Insights into Greek tradition
"My strongest impression of AMOH Rhodes was the garden. There are 276 olive trees on the grounds, and the architecture was planned around them, not the other way round," says Shahab Kamali. "Then there is the high-quality, stylishly selected furniture indoors and outdoors, elegant retreats by the beach and pool, and an exclusive cigar lounge with a custom-made humidor – things you only really appreciate on site and that underline the resort's exceptional standards. In culinary terms, the open-plan restaurant with its impressive glass roof stands out, as does the terrace of the Italian restaurant, which looks directly out over the historic excavation sites."
The olive trees on the grounds offer a unique insight into Greek nature. Six regionally refined olive varieties with notes of ouzo, rosemary, orange peel and Mediterranean herbs are served for tasting every day. On the Olive Oil Journey, guests can experience the centuries-old tradition of olive groves and native olive oil first-hand at a local producer.
Luxury resort with its own beach areas
Secluded on a peninsula in the south-east of Rhodes, the resort has its own sections of the sandy Kavos Beach and Kymata Beach, both within walking distance. Above them rise terraced levels overlooking the Aegean, home to the resort's 197 rooms and suites. They range from around 32 to 178 square metres; many open towards the sea, and some have their own pool. For a particularly exclusive stay, there is the Rhoda Presidential Suite: it separates the living and sleeping areas and leads via a spacious private terrace to its own pool.
The peninsula is located so that days by the water and excursions across the island can be combined without changing hotels. The drive there already takes you past the Acropolis of Lindos; the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town of Rhodes, Anthony Quinn Bay and the sandy strip of Prasonisi are well suited for day trips.
On the selection of properties
New openings in the top luxury segment can hardly be judged from documents alone. Whether a property works becomes clear from its pathways, materials and processes, and from how architecture and grounds interact. Signature Kollection Travel therefore works with a deliberately limited number of properties and visits them personally before recommending them.
Signature Kollection Travel plans not just the hotel stay but the entire trip to Greece – flights and transfers, excursions with private guides, restaurant visits outside the resort and, if desired, a combination with other islands or Athens. You can find more information here.
