Ten Questions for KITICON Owner Tina Kirfel

What do well-known women in tourism think? What are their preferences? And what do they dream of? In the “Ten Questions for” series, the focus is on work, leisure, everyday life and travel — with very personal answers. Here are Tina Kirfel’s answers. She is the owner of the marketing agency KITICON.

fvw | TravelTalk: What career did your parents have in mind for you?

Tina Kirfel: My parents simply wanted me to find my own path and be happy. A career in tourism has always fulfilled and inspired me. They sensed that right from the start.

fvw | TravelTalk: Fine dining or a snack from a food stand?

Tina Kirfel: Neither, actually. I prefer fresh, balanced and light cuisine.

fvw | TravelTalk: What fascinates you about your job?

Tina Kirfel: The variety and the challenge of continuously putting myself in the position of different clients, understanding their requirements and developing the best strategy.

fvw | TravelTalk: Which keywords would you use to market yourself?

Tina Kirfel: Empathetic, courageous, positive.

fvw | TravelTalk: What will your next project be?

Tina Kirfel: Professionally, to continue expanding KITICON. We have a great team with strong digital expertise and deep tourism know-how. Personally, my children are grown up, I can work from anywhere, and I am enjoying this new freedom.

fvw | TravelTalk: What are you most grateful for in your life?

Tina Kirfel: For my life in general and for everything I have already been able to experience. Every day, I am grateful that I chose this industry, which offers so many opportunities, and that I have a profession that brings me so much joy.

fvw | TravelTalk: What should never be missing from your fridge?

Tina Kirfel: Prosecco.

fvw | TravelTalk: Which country is at the top of your travel list?

Tina Kirfel: There are several. Brazil and South Africa are definitely very high on the list.

fvw | TravelTalk: How often do you check your smartphone each day?

Tina Kirfel: Very, very often. Digital connectivity fascinates me and is an important part of my daily life. I do not need a digital detox.

fvw | TravelTalk: Finally, whose answers would you like to read here?

Tina Kirfel: Those of my friend and business partner Bettina Zwickler, Managing Director of Passage Kontor in Kiel. Day after day, she demonstrates how successfully a brick-and-mortar travel agency can be run, and yet she never tires of implementing new ideas with me.
